Bucks County COO David Sanko Awards Software Certificates to BCHG Information Technology Training Students
During a recent graduation ceremony sponsored by Bucks County Housing Group, Inc., Bucks County Chief Operating Officer David Sanko saluted 12 students for their completion of an eight-week, Cisco Systems A+ Hardware and Software certification training.
The current training class is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development. Qualification for the program requires students to come from homeless and/or low-income and/or welfare situations. Referrals are generated from a group of Bucks County-based assistance facilities including A Woman’s Place, the American Red Cross, Blessed Margaret Home, Bucks County Housing Group SHP, and the Bucks County Assistance Office.
“It was a rewarding experience to share this accomplishment with the students,” Sanko said of the ceremony, which took place in Morrisville. “I wish them great success in the next phase of their training, which will include all of the tools necessary to become a Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), one of the highly regarded certifications in the information technology field.”
“We would like to thank Mr. Sanko for his part in making it a memorable day for the students,” said Bucks County Housing Group Program Director Chris Krizan.
The current student group, which includes nine women and three men, is scheduled to complete the CCNA training in August/September of this year. In addition, they are settling in to internships with information technology employers such as SEPTA, Verizon, Comcast and the Bucks County Library, which recently hired two students from previous training classes. To date, the program’s job placement rate is 88 percent, resulting in an average annual salary range from $30,000-$50,000.
