Bucks Emergency Services Director Serves on Expert Panel for Greater Phila Chamber of Commerce
Because emergencies don’t limit themselves to individuals and families, Bucks County Emergency Services Director John Dougherty joined an esteemed panel today to discuss ways businesses can prepare for disaster. Joining an esteemed group of emergency management professionals, Dougherty, also chairman of the Southeastern Regional Counter-terrorism Task Force, participated in the regional readiness overview that provided a foundation for participants at the beginning of the event.
On the agenda were items such as preparing industry-standard recovery plans, asset protection, maintaining contingency and continuity plans and a review of regional risks to assist with plan development. Dougherty was joined by the New Jersey Department of Emergency Management Maj. Richard Arroyo, University of Pennsylvania Director of the Institute for Strategic Threat Analysis and Response, and Philadelphia Deputy Managing Director MaryAnn Marrocolo. Moderator for the panel was Tom Foley, CEO of Southeastern PA American Red Cross.
“John Dougherty is known in this region as an expert in emergency planning and preparedness,” noted Commissioner Chairman Charles H. Martin. “Bucks County is fortunate to have him as an asset and I know many businesspeople benefited from his wisdom and experience today.”
Following break-out sessions, participants enjoyed lunch with keynote speaker Tom Ridge, former Pennsylvania governor and first secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security. The event was held at the Lowes Philadelphia Hotel on Market Street.
