Commissioners Focus Human Services Spotlight On Children & Youth, Juvenile Probation Contracts
Bi-Monthly Meeting Includes $4.7 Million for 26 Children & Youth Resolutions
Underscoring its commitment to Human Services, and the youth of Bucks County in particular, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners approved 38 separate contracts for the Children & Youth and Juvenile Probation Departments totaling more than $6.1 million during today’s bi-monthly meeting at the Middletown Grange Fair in Wrightstown.
“This is just a drop in the bucket in terms of our overall financial support of these two pivotal departments,” noted Commissioner Charles H. Martin, chairman of the board. “We look forward to continuing to pledge resources to our young people, especially those who need the support of our Human Services providers.”
Among the Children & Youth resolutions approved by Commissioners Martin, James F. Cawley, Esq. and Sandra A. Miller was a $2.3 million contract with the Warminster-based Christ’s Home for Children to provide group home foster care services. The facility provides placement services for children who are unable to remain in their own homes, assisting them with the development of life skills and a support network.
The Juvenile Probation portion of the agenda featured 12 items, including a $230,000, one-year contract with the Big Brothers/Big Sister of Jamison to provide counseling services to juveniles and family. Also approved was a $633,915 grant-in-aid application and award acceptance to provide/improve Juvenile Probation services over the next five years.
