That half-empty bottle in the bathroom cabinet has a deadline this weekend.
According to a Friday LevittownNow report, Bucks County’s fall prescription drug take-back day runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office says residents can drop off unused, unneeded or expired prescription medication, vaping products, over-the-counter medicine and pet medication for safe disposal.
It is one of those county programs that does not make a lot of noise, but it solves a real problem. People hang onto old pills after surgery, dental work, a bad back, a sick pet, or a prescription change. Then the stuff sits in a cabinet for months. Sometimes years.
Bucks County drop-off sites run from Bristol to Langhorne
The county’s drug disposal program at bcdac.org lists a dozen Lower Bucks locations in and around Bristol, Levittown, Langhorne, Penndel and Tullytown. That spread matters in a plain, practical way: most people in this part of the county should have a site fairly close to home.
According to the DA’s office listing cited by LevittownNow, the Lower Bucks drop-off sites include:
- Bristol Borough Hall, 250 Pond Street, Bristol, with sharps collection
- Bristol Township Municipal Complex, 2501 Bath Road, Bristol, with sharps collection
- District Court 07-1-04, 7325 New Falls Road, Levittown, with sharps collection
- Falls Township Police Department, 188 Lincoln Highway, Fairless Hills, with sharps collection
- Giant Food Store, 4001 New Falls Road, Levittown, with sharps collection
- Giant Food Store, 168 North Flowers Mill Road, Langhorne, with sharps collection
- Langhorne Borough Hall, 114 East Maple Avenue, Langhorne
- Lower Bucks Hospital, 501 Bath Road, Bristol, with sharps collection
- Penndel Police Department, 300 South Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, with sharps collection
- Tullytown Police Department, 500 Main Street, Tullytown, with sharps collection
- Walmart, 180 Levittown Center, Levittown, with sharps collection
- William Penn Fire Company, 123 Main Street, Hulmeville, with sharps collection
For people who follow our Bucks County news coverage, this is the opposite of a breaking-news story. No sirens. No court filing. No vote. Just a countywide cleanup job that keeps old medication from turning into a mess later.
What This Means for Bucks County Residents
If you have kids in the house, older relatives managing several prescriptions, or a medicine cabinet that has not been cleaned out since last winter, Saturday is a good excuse to deal with it. The Pennsylvania Department of Health and other state agencies keep telling residents the same thing: unused medication should not sit around forever, and it should not be tossed carelessly.
There is also a convenience piece here. Quite a few Lower Bucks sites will take sharps as well, according to the county list. That is useful for households dealing with insulin, injections or other at-home medical care, because not every disposal event takes those items. This one does at many locations, which saves people from guessing or waiting for another collection day.
The event also means residents do not have to make a special trip across the county. If you are in the Levittown area, near Bristol Borough, or closer to the Langhorne side of Lower Bucks, there is likely a drop-off site along a route you already drive for groceries, school pickup or errands. That is usually what gets people to actually use these programs. If the site is easy, the bag of old meds finally leaves the house.
And yes, this is still public safety, even if it is the unglamorous kind. A bottle forgotten in a drawer is easy for a teenager to find, easy for a visitor to pocket, and easy for anyone to misuse. Safe disposal is boring. Good. Some of the best county services are boring.

Bucks County will take pills, vapes and pet medications
According to LevittownNow and the DA office program, Saturday’s collection covers prescription medication, vaping products, over-the-counter drugs and pet medications. That last category is easy to forget, but plenty of households have leftover pet pain medication, antibiotics or other veterinary prescriptions sitting around.
The county says residents looking for the full list of sites across Bucks, not just the Lower Bucks locations above, can check Bucks County government resources and the DA office’s program page. If you want to be extra careful before you leave home, the DA office is also taking questions by phone at 215-444-2700.
There is a transportation angle, too. If someone is heading to a Bristol or Langhorne site without a car, SEPTA service may help for part of the trip, though most of these locations are clearly set up with drivers in mind. Either way, the timing is tight. The drop-off window is only four hours.
So the practical move is simple: bag up what you want to get rid of, check your nearest location before you head out, and go between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The full countywide list and details are at bcdac.org, and the DA’s office says that is the best place to start if you are not sure which site makes the most sense.
