The Bucks County Blog (buckscountyblog.com) is a local news site. We collect as little personal information as we can while still running the site. Here is what we do collect and why.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
Email Subscriptions
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you provide and use it only to send you Bucks County Blog updates. We do not sell or share subscriber lists. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future sends.
Media
If you submit images to the site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies last one year. Embedded content (for example YouTube videos or social posts) behaves as if you visited the other website and may set its own cookies.
Analytics and Advertising
We may use standard analytics tools to understand which stories readers find useful. If advertising appears on the site, advertisers do not receive your personal information from us.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell personal data. Service providers that help us run the site (hosting, email delivery, spam filtering) process data only to provide those services. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized automatically. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your Rights
If you have left comments or subscribed to our emails, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it. Email us through the contact page and we will handle it.
Questions
Privacy questions can be sent through our contact page.
